Cruise Gate Hamburg gewinnt Seatrade Cruise Awards 2023 in der Kategorie „Destination of the Year“

Cruise Gate Hamburg (CGH) wins Seatrade Awards 2023 for Hamburg in the category "Destination of the Year". 

The renowned Seatrade Cruise Awards recognise excellence and innovation in various areas of the cruise industry, setting new standards for innovation, creativity and technology in the cruise sector. 2023 marked the 17th year of the prestigious awards. This year´s winners were announced at 'Celebrating Cruise Brilliance: The Speakers Reception & 2023 Seatrade Cruise Awards" in Hamburg on 6 September 2023. The event was part of Seatrade Europe 2023, the world's leading cruise industry trade show, which gathered the international cruise industry in Hamburg from 6 to 8 September 2023. A record 145 nominations were received for this year´s Seatrade Cruise Awards, underlining the continued growth and innovation of the industry.

Hamburg and CGH received the award for their outstanding commitment and success in developing Hamburg as an attractive year-round cruise destination. After the challenges of the pandemic, the Hanseatic city on the Elbe has experienced an impressive upswing as a cruise destination. With a wide range of cruise itineraries and travel options, especially in the winter months, Hamburg is proving attractive to cruise lines and their passengers all year round.

Mary Bond, Group Director of Seatrade Cruise, who presented the awards to the winners in the various categories, congratulated all the winners on their outstanding achievements. "The Seatrade Cruise Awards provide a global stage to recognise the leading companies and individuals who will shape the cruise industry landscape for years to come", she said and added: "'These awards are a testament to our resilient sector and the vision of those who drive it."

The winners were judged by an impartial panel of 16 judges representing prominent figures in the international cruise community across key sectors including hospitality, operations, marketing and technology. The panel included experts ranging from editors to professors, consultants to principals, managing directors to chief executives. It also included representatives from organisations such as CHART Management Consultants, Cruise Baltic, Cruise Europe, Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Europe, Cruise Planners, Jacoby Advisors, LizGammon.com, Oracle Hospitality, Ocean Technology Group, MedCruise, Pace University, River Cruise Europe, Seatrade Cruise Review and V. Ships Leisure.

 

Winners of the Seatrade Cruise Awards 2023 in all categories are:

 

Destination of the Year: Hamburg, Cruise Gate Hamburg (finalists were Cruise Saudi and Haifa, Israel)

Cruise Personality of the Year: Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises

Outstanding Achievement Award: Mai Elmar, Director of Cruise Port Rotterdam.

Port of the Year: Haugesund, (Karmsund Port Authority), Norway

Expedition Cruise Initiative: Atlas Epicurean Expeditions

Innovative Shorex: National Geographic Marine Treasures of Mallorca

River Cruise Initiative: American Queen Voyages (for its regionally inspired culinary experience)

Sustainability: MSC Euribia's net zero emissions cruise

Product of the Year: Silverstream air lubrication
