The Cruise Center HafenCity went into operation in 2006 as Hamburg´s first down-town cruise terminal.
Until 2016 two terminal buildings and two berths were used to serve ships arriving or departing. Following the dismantling of Terminal 2 in 2016, one terminal and one berth are presently available for calls. Vessels of a length of up 345 m and a draught of up to 11 m can dock here.
At the site of the southern "Überseequartier" a new, modern terminal is currently being built, which will replace the current Cruise Center HafenCity from 2021 onwards. The new cruise terminal will be integrated into a complex ensemble of buildings with underground bus station, car parking spaces and a taxi curbside as well as a hotel and retail spaces. The terminal will offer 2 berths with a capacity to serve up to 3.600 passengers simultaneously.
The current terminal building is open to passengers, persons receiving and dropping passengers, as well cruise enthusiasts during times of ship arrivals and departures. Please check your travel documents for more information about ship arrival and departure times or go to the Ship Spotting section.
