Hamburg, 12 September 2016 – 2016 was a record year for the Hamburg cruise market: Cruise Gate Hamburg (CGH) recorded 170 cruise ship visits (2015: 153 calls) and more than 700,000 passengers (2015: 520,000 passengers). Since the beginning of this year CGH has been operating all three of Hamburg’s cruise centres (Altona, HafenCity and Steinwerder).
According to the (EIU) Global Liveability Ranking, which scores 140 cities on five lifestyle categories, Hamburg is among the top 10 most liveable cities in the world. Cities were ranked on categories including stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.
The Green City on the Water is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany recognized not only by its proud inhabitants but also by the many delighted tourists brought to Hamburg by the cruise lines.
Cruise ports are the essential linking elements or passenger transport nodes. While at the seaside shipping lines and international bodies, e.g. the International Maritime Organization (IMO) are the main actors, on shore national port administrations and terminal operators take over this responsibility.
Hamburg, April 21, 2016 – With bright sunshine Aida Prima has docked today at 7:30 am in her new home port Hamburg. With the ship specially designed for the winter season, it is the first time that a cruise line decides to offer year round cruises from and to Hamburg. From April 23 the Cruise ship will dock every Saturday at the Cruise Center Steinwerder.
