The day everybody has been waiting for has finally come. Yesterday the first sod was turned at the construction site located in the southern section of HafenCity’s Überseequartier [overseas quarter]. The new cruise terminal will be built on an area the size of some 260,000 square metres. It will be integrated into a shopping mall surrounded by office and residential buildings and is expected to be completed in 2021.

From 14 to 16 March 2017 Seatrade Cruise Global, the world’s largest cruise industry trade fair, takes place in Florida. Hamburg is the only German port that has its own booth at the show. Together with Cruise Net Hamburg (CNH), Hamburg Tourismus GmbH and other parties of Hamburg’s cruise community Cruise Gate Hamburg (CGH), the operator of Hamburg‘s three cruise terminals, will showcase their development strategies.

Everything is finished now and the Elbphilharmonie speaks for the future of Hamburg. Now it is time to listen! Already visible on the city skyline for many years, Hamburgs new landmark will welcome all cruise guests from now on with all its beauty!

Cruise Gate Hamburg is happy to announce a record-breaking year with 171 cruise ship visits to Hamburg with more than 710,000 passengers. We expects these figures to rise to nearby 200 arrivals and about 800,000 passengers in the 2017 season. “This is an excellent result given that this is the first year we are fully operational on the three terminals,” says Sacha Rougier, Managing Director of Cruise Gate Hamburg GmbH. “Our work behind the scenes and the close dialogue with the cruise companies resulted in a record number of passengers in 2016.
