On Sunday, 6 June 2026, the IRONMAN Hamburg European Championship 2026 will cause significant disruptions affecting access to Cruise Center Altona.
Access to the Cruise Center:
At Max-Brauer-Allee / Königstraße / Palmaille, a crossing point will be set up that allows you to cross the race course and reach Altona and the Cruise Center via Kaistraße. This crossing point is the only route accessible by car in this area. Please note that long waiting times may occur and crossing cannot be guaranteed at all times.
Road Closures:
On Sunday, 07 June 2026, from approximately 06:00 a.m. to approximately 2:30 p.m.
Alternative Arrival by Public Transport:
As an alternative, we recommend using public transportation. From Hamburg Central Station or the airport, take the S1/S3/U3 to the stop “Landungsbrücken”. From there, transfer to the HVV ferry (Line 62) towards Finkenwerder and travel to the stop “Dockland”.
From the North | Central Station | Airport:
Drive south via Max-Brauer-Allee. Use the crossing points on Max-Brauer-Allee / Königstraße in the direction of the Cruise Center. Continue via Kaistraße into Große Elbstraße until you reach the Cruise Center.
From the North | South | A7:
Take the A7 to exit HH-Othmarschen (29), then follow Behringstraße, Barnerstraße, Julius-Leber-Straße to Max-Brauer-Allee. Use the crossing points on Max-Brauer-Allee toward the Cruise Center. Continue via Kaistraße into Große Elbstraße until you reach the Cruise Center.
From the East | A24 | A1:
Avoid the city center and travel via Moorfleet and Wilhelmsburg to the A7 towards Flensburg, then take exit HH-Othmarschen (29). Continue via Behringstraße, Barnerstraße, Julius-Leber-Straße to Max-Brauer-Allee. Use the crossing points on Max-Brauer-Allee toward the Cruise Center. Continue via Kaistraße into Große Elbstraße until you reach the Cruise Center.
Traffic disruptions will occur in Hamburg’s city center, Altona, Othmarschen, as well as the Vier- and Marschlande areas. We therefore strongly recommend avoiding the inner city altogether. To help make your arrival and departure easier, we have compiled all relevant information for you in the downloadable info flyer.
Please make sure to allow sufficient time for your journey.
We thank you for your understanding and wish you a pleasant trip.
