Together with the Hamburg Cruise Center (HCC) and Cruise Net Hamburg, Cruise Gate Hamburg (CGH) will be presenting itself at the Seatrade Cruise Global in Florida from 14 to 17 March 2016. At this event, the world’s leading trade show for the cruise industry, CGH and HCC will be sharing the joint Hamburg stand with Becker Marine Systems, Bomin Linde and others, and will be taking advantage of this opportunity of establishing contact with cruise lines, suppliers, travel agents and partners.
“We are delighted to be representing Hamburg as a cruise destination at the Seatrade Cruise Global, along with our stand partners. Our city has developed into a popular port of call for cruisers and continues to mark up steady growth. In 2016 we are anticipating 640,000 cruise passengers – 120,000 more than in the previous year. Also when it comes to alternative sources of energy for cruise ships visiting the Hanseatic city, Hamburg has been making considerable progress,” commented Sacha Rougier, Managing Director of Cruise Gate Hamburg, and responsible since the start of 2016 for the operation of all three cruise terminals at the Port of Hamburg.

From the start of the 2016 cruise season, the second of the three cruise centers in Hamburg will also be offering cruisers the possibility of obtaining power from the land side, and so switching off their engines while they are docked at the Port of Hamburg for loading and unloading and the boarding of passengers. When the AIDAsol berths in early June 2016,the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) will be commissioning the landside power plant at the cruise terminal in Altona.
Already in the summer of last year the LNG(LNG = Liquefied Natural Gas) hybrid barge of Becker Marine Systems went into operation at the Cruise Center in HafenCity, supplying cruisers with environmentally friendly energy. Along with the landside power facility in Altona, the LNG hybrid barge further enhances the attractiveness of Hamburg as a cruise destination. First of all, noise pollution and toxic emissions can be sharply reduced – benefiting local residents in the vicinity of the cruise terminal, as well as the passengers and crew. To generate energy, the LNG hybrid barge emits no sulfur oxides at all, and it releases around 80 percent less nitrous gases than a diesel generator. And CO2 emissions are likewise cut by 20 percent.
An innovative and future oriented energy supply, one that is at the same time economical and environmentally friendly, is an important location factor as well as a powerful business argument. Above all against the background of ever more stringent emission standards, LNG is increasingly important as a fuel. Bomin Linde, the leading supplier of liquid natural gas, therefore aims to provide a supply at strategically significant ports. CGH’s trade fair stand partner intends to cover the entire process, comprising the purchase, transport and storage and including sales and the fueling of ships.
