From 6 to 8 September 2017 Hamburg will once again be the hub of the international cruising industry when the sixth Seatrade Europe fair will be open to the international industry audience at the Hamburg Messe fair site for the first time on a Wednesday to Friday. In addition, the Hamburg Cruise Days will be held from 8 to 10 September featuring an exciting special events programme.
With cruising in Europe continuing to grow, ports and destinations are under increasing pressure to accommodate the influx of of larger cruise ships and passenger numbers, ensuring their safe passage from ship and shore. But how are they addressing the issue of berth and shoreside congestion?
The "Ports & Destinations - operating beyond peak demand" conference session will try to answer these questions. It will take place at Seatrade Europe on Thursday 7 September from 1030-1130 hrs.

Adapting to a quickly changing world through efficient use of infrastructure
“A healthy development of the port ensures growth and prosperity of the city and the entire metropolitan region. Efficiency may well be the most important differentiator when it comes to infrastructure facilities, traffic control and security. Terminal Security during the recent G20 summit in Hamburg, and after the recent attacks in Munich or Nice, is a topic which needs to be discussed during Seatrade Europe in September. Hamburg deployed some 20,000 police officers for the summit to prevent violent protest and to protect government leaders. As terminal operators we need to deal with most eventualities and therefore we worked closely with the Police to enable cruise ships to safely call in Hamburg during this period. We apply the ISPS code ever since the 9/11 attacks, we have a security plan, implement appropriate security measures, do risk-based security assessments and trainings to enhance security awareness.
